I just finished this book and I LOVED it!!! I highly recommend this "new" series!
The main character is a young kick ass woman, Ciara, who has a shady past. She's got an edge that reminds me of Betsy in the QB series. The main male character, Shane, is the tortured soul type, Really reminds me of Richard in the AB series. Oh and he is sooooooo friggin HOT! YOWSA! The storyline is a little different and takes some real turns. Not your typical gal meets vampire and the HEA. I like that. The supporting characters are all very interesting and I'm really dying to get to know them better. The next book is Bad to the Bone, starting it today!!!!
Here is the "official" blurb:
Newbie marketing intern Ciara Griffin lands a job at WMMP, a station threatened with being sold to Skyware, a giant communications conglomerate, unless ad revenue picks up. A former con artist with a canny way with people, Ciara soon learns that the DJs are undead and specialists in the musical eras in which they were turned into vampires. One of them, Shane McAllister (turned in 1995), is really hot and dangerously tempting. In order to attract more listeners, Ciara promotes a new marketing strategy and the Sherwood, Md., station becomes 94.3 WVMP, the Lifeblood of Rock and Roll, exploiting the fang factor (which no listener takes seriously) for profit. It works, until an ancient vampire cult wants to pull the plug. Also playing in is The Control, an equally ancient paramilitary group created to protect good vampires and kill bad ones. Smith-Ready's musical references are spot on, as is her take on corporate radio's creeping airwave hegemony. Add in the irrepressible Ciara, who grew up in a family of grifters, and the results rock.

The Executioner
Hey all! Started reading the Anita Blake series and I like it! I'd heard both pros and cons, but I figured I'd give it a try. For me, it works.
Book one takes a bit to get into it. The writing is first person POV so you're a bit lost until more things come together. Once you get into it the story begins to flow. And some of the characters are a hoot! The author takes chances, bully for her.
I like that fact the the main character is a women that isn't prissy and can take care of herself. I love tuff chicks! Anita isn't a supernatural being with super human powers, that also refreshing. She's young and there is room for personal growth. I also like seeing a character that matures over time. She morphing with her experiences, just like we all do.
So far I'm only at book 4, there are 17 in the series to date...I'll let you know what I think after a few more.
Later loves,

The Midnight Breed Boys..
Oh ladies do I have some new cuties for you!!!! Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series! If you love BDB you will love the Breed hunks. The WARDen is a big supporter of this series.
I know you will fall for Lucan, Gideon, Rio, Dante and Tagen..maybe Sterling too...
I really didn't expect to like them as much as I do. They aren't quite BDB, but they are a really enjoyable ride....may require some panty liner changes too:)

Christmas bucks
O.K., today’s subject is holidays. I guess I’m just one of those people that don’t feel that you should put yourself in hock up to your eyeballs for Christmas. I know that isn’t always a popular thing, but I just can’t see the sense in buying thing you really don’t need, and probably won’t use and then paying them off for 6 month on your credit cards. Am I wrong here? Am I just out of the loop?
I’m watching hordes of people buy things just to purchase them. Why? I don’t know how many times I’ve heard, “We have to get them something”, “Just buy her/him anything, he/she can return it.” WTF! Am I missing something? When did Christmas become so ridiculous?
Now, let me state that I am not a religious person. To each his own. For me Christmas has no religious significance. You’d think I’d be more into the commercial end of things. I really hope I never get on that band wagon.
And for all of you with kids and grandkids. Shouldn’t it be more about being together as a family and not who go the kid the biggest best gift? I know I’m rambling here but I must say that I’m very passionate about this subject. I have a coworker who as a six month old and they’ve spent several thousand dollars in decorations and gifts etc…she’s 6 months old! Wait until she’s 4 or 5 and then go ape shit with the gifts. She doesn’t even know her name yet for god’s sake!
Sorry, didn’t mean to get off on a tangent. DO you see where I’m trying to go here? It should be about more than who much you spend and how big and impressive the gift is.
Now I’ve vented and I’ll climb off the soap box.

Lazy Saturday...ideas about writing
Hello Luvs,
It's a cold lazy Saturday here in NW Georgia. Probably snow tonight. Mr.Coug is snoring away on the couch, ah.... the song of the middle aged mate;-) Did a little work on my QB FF. I'm re-reading book two. Trying to stay in the character's heads.
When I was younger I would write all the time. Short stories, poetry...pretty much whatever popped into my head. Some how, some way I lost the 'spark". I forgot how to put things on the page and why I needed to. What I've rediscovered is that I'm an artist at heart. (I also draw) I need to create. Maybe my creations are my kids...small parts of me. I'm scared to death to see what happens with them, but I know I have to put them out there and see where they go.
Reading all the great FF on the Red & Blue wikis has really inspired me. It's given me the nerve to take the leap. Thanks so much! I don't think I would have ever gotten my "spark" back without my wiki sistas & bros.
I'm off to jot down some more story ideas that have been bouncing around in my noggin. How about a female serial killer who looks like your Aunt Jane from North Dakota....

The first....
Hello all!! Well, I suppose since this is my first blog entry that it should be profound and prophetic. I get the feeling that it may not be:)
For some strange reason I was thinking about my childhood last night. I grew up in a very small town in the middle of Michigan in the 1970’s. My hometown has about 2,000 people in the area and is so small they don’t even have a stoplight! Fast food was, and still is, unheard of. I always dreamed of living in a city and going to a huge school. For me small town life was excruciating. I have nothing against small town middle America, but for someone who dreamed of Paris and NYC and London and Rome, it was absolutely stifling.
When I was growing up we didn’t have cable or VCR’s or a movie disc player. We had three channels and maybe a fourth if the local college station was broadcasting PBS. I’m an only child who had to find ways to amuse herself. I had a vivid imagination and read like a fiend!!! I was interested in Science Fantasy & Fiction as soon as I knew what it was. My first real TV crush was Spock (Leonard Nimoy). God I loved those pointed ears and his dark looks.**sighs**I’m still in love with him today…wrinkles and all;-P
Have you ever heard the saying “Everything I believe in I learned from Star Trek”? Well, that may be true in my case. Thru the show I saw a universe beyond my small town. An opportunity for all types of beings to get along and to strive for something higher. A society that valued education and personal exploration. I guess I set the bar high for my dreams ** the innocence of youth**!
Now I’m older and wiser**snort**I don’t see things thru rose colored glasses anymore, although Mr.Coug would probably disagree:-) Yes I’m still a fantasy freak and now I’ve been drawn into the world of the supernatural, and I love it! I love all the people I’ve met in my new supe world.
As most of you know I love Eric Northman from The Southern Vampire Series/True Blood, Eric Sinclair from the Queen Betsy Undead Series and Bones/Crispin from The Night Huntress series. I have a real jones for all of them*winks* they are my “fantasy men”. I also seem to be developing a crush on Betsy too. I just really like that gal! Reminds me of a younger me. A much skinnier and hotter me.
You’ll probably see lots of discussions about the QB series here. I really love MaryJanice Davidson!! I’m also getting into the Wyndham werewolf stories. I love the graphic sex scenes and her borderline S&M play**wiggles eyebrows**! Can’t wait until she writes another one. I’m also eagerly awaiting Jeaniene Frost’s next book First Drop of Crimson. I think Joseph Fiennes is my Spade…
Well, now that I’ve bored you to tears with my childhood memories and my current loves I’ll close it up. Like I said, not profound of prophetic.
